Shannon Elford, Head Coach/Program Director
Shannon started crew at Xavier as a freshman coxswain in 2009 and instantly fell in love with the team and sport. By her junior year she had switched to rowing. Shannon was a rower in a lightweight four that got 3rd at Long Beach Invite and 5th at Southwest Junior Regionals. During her junior year she was also the first Xavier rower to ever scull and took first place at Desert Sprints after just two weeks of training in a single. Shortly after this race the sculling program at Xavier was started with the purchase of two singles and a double.
Shannon was a part of the first Xavier boat to attend Head of the Charles during her senior year. She was recruited to row at Saint Mary's College of California.
In 2014 Shannon began coaching the novice team at Xavier. The freshman made their first Xavier appearance at Scholastic Nationals that year and placed fourth in the quad. In 2015 Shannon became head coach. From 2015-2017 the team took five boats to Scholastic Nationals and took home bronze medals two years in a row. In 2019 Shannon was promoted to become a full time head coach and program director.
