Long Beach Junior Invite

April 10-12, 2015

High School Nationals
May 22-23, 2015

This is only our second year attending this race and our first time bringing a freshmen boat. The freshmen 4x of Dominique Jablonski, Tatiano Rosales, Paulina Oles and Anna Heslin placed 4th, less than 2 seconds behind third place and became part of one of the most successful freshmen boats in Xavier Prep Crew history. Not to be outdone, the junior 4x of Ellie Martin, Grace Ganz, Martha Ryan and Cami Hays won the grand final by over 8 seconds. This is the first national championship for Xavier Prep Crew and only the second from a junior program on the lake.

The 2015 Long Beach Youth Invitational was a great time for the team to see how they compare to most of the teams we will be seeing at regionals. Highlights of the weekend include the varsity 2x, varsity 4x, JV 4+, varsity 2- and freshmen 4+. The varsity 2x of Ellie Martin '16 and Martha Ryan '17 placed 3rd in the grand final. The varsity 4x of Ellie Martin, Grace Ganz, Martha Ryan and Cami Hays finished 4th in the final. The JV 4+ placed 4th in the final with coxswain Abbie Arnold and rowers Hannah Cooper, Treasure McMahahan, Ali Whittle and Dominique Jablonski (taking the place of Ally Thoits who had to be pulled after a medical issue in the heats). The varsity 2- of Erin Mahon and Hannah Cooper finished 6th in the final in an extremely fast field. The freshmen 4+ of coxswain Lauren Prebil and rowers Dominique Jablonski, Tatiana Rosales, Paulina Oles and Anna Heslin finished 5th in the final.

2015 marked the 2nd year in a row that Xavier won the State Championship title with strong performances from the entire team. For the first time, a few events went from heats to finals and XPC put two varsity 2xs in the final. Ellie Martin '16 and Martha Ryan '17 placed 2nd in the grand final with Grace Ganz '16 and Cami Hays '17 placing 4th. These two 2xs doubled into the 4x later in the day, placing 3rd in their final. Xavier also had great results in the varsity 4+, varsity 8+, varsity 1xs and lightweight 2xs.

On the novice side, the high point of the day was a second place finish in the novice 4x. Dominique Jablonski '18, Paulina Oles '18, Ali Whittle '18 and Anna Heslin '18 finished just two seconds ahead of cross lake rivals TTLR. The Xavier novice 8+ finished 3rd in their final and Anna Heslin '18 finished 2nd in the novice 1x.

Desert Sprints

March 7, 2015

For the second year in a row and third year in the history of the program, we qualified a boat for the USRowing Youth National Championship. Ellie Martin and Martha Ryan placed 3rd in the grand final which earned them a trip to Florida in June for Youth Nationals. They teamed up with Cami Hays and Grace Ganz to place 5th in the varsity 4x.

Regionals was the last race for our three seniors, Kennedy Dresh, Nailah Bjotvedt and Emily Romine. All three were 4 year members and 3 year letter winners for Xavier Prep Crew.

On August 22nd, 2015 Xavier Prep Crew hosted a Learn to Row super event, Ready All Row. Anyone that attends Xavier College Preparatory was welcome. The great thing about rowing is that no experience is necessary. Xavier Prep Crew can turn any student into an amazing athlete.

At this event we taught over 15 girls how to row.

2015 Xavier Prep Crew Retreat

October 10 & 11, 2015

For the first time in many years, Xavier Prep Crew had an out of town retreat. Friendly Pines in Prescott, AZ hosted the girls for an overnight stay. This was the perfect opportunity to escape that lingering summer heat and enjoy some team building/bonding time.
